The Mortuary, Subzi Mandi is part of and associated with AAAGH, previously known as Police Hospital /Civil Hospital. It is the oldest mortuary of Delhi for all types of cases of post-mortem examination, situated in the civil lines area done here annually. Previously majority of post-mortem cases of Delhi were handled here but at present due to decentralization and subsequent division of work in Delhi, post-mortem examination of whole of the Railway Network (excluding P.P. Shahdara) District North and District East (excluding kalyanpuri subdivision) areas are conducted in this Mortuary. Work is done here all 365 days including all national and gazetted Holidays.

Post-mortem is done exclusively on the request and inquest of the police. The police bring the bodies under their supervision and after conducting the post-mortem the bodies are handed over to the relatives/attendants under police supervision. Unidentified bodies are kept in the Mortuary for at least 72 hours for the purpose of identification under custody of one of police constable and in special cases on request of the police for further required duration. Post-Mortem examinations are done free of cost. In cases where viscera are to be sent for chemical analysis, jars and wooden boxes are also provided by the department itself free of cost. 60 bodies can be kept in the cold storage chamber that has back-up generator round the clock, along with the cold storage hall for unidentified bodies. 4 post-mortem examinations can be done simultaneously due to the availability of four dissection tables.
